Top Talent Slated for Ludlow Arts 2007-2008 Season
The
Port Ludlow Arts Council (PLAC) has a potpourri of concerts for its 16th annual
season of Performing Arts in Port Ludlow. The seven concerts in the 2007-2008
series are held at the Bay Club and showcase performers from New York,
Connecticut, Oregon, British Columbia and Calgary, Alberta. The result is an
eclectic mix that includes a salute to Benny Goodman, a brass ensemble,
bluegrass band, acoustic roots music group, a gleeful string band and a cappella
quartet—plus a Christmas
concert featuring songs from Ireland, Scotland as well as traditional holiday
favorites.
Ticket Options
Prior
season ticket holders received a sneak peek at the 2007-2008 season and snapped
up the 100 season tickets at $108.50 for all seven concerts. A maximum of only
120 additional general admission tickets at $18 are available for each concert.
Flex
Passes Available NOW!
By purchasing a
six-concert Flex Pass for $99, you’ll save eight percent over the price of
individual tickets. Use one pass for six people, or for three people to attend
two concerts each— many combinations are possible.
Purchasers of the
popular six-concert Flex Pass for $99 are urged to do their exchanges just as
soon as tickets are available, generally one month before a particular show.
Flex Passes can be purchased at the Bay Club.
Snowbirds and travelers
can exchange Flex Passes for individual tickets by mail. Simply specify the show
desired, include your pass that will be punched, and the requested tickets will
be mailed to you. To purchase or exchange Flex Passes, or to order individual
show tickets by mail send a check and stamped self-addressed envelope to P.L.A.C.,
P. O. Box 65210, Port Ludlow, WA 98365.
Performing Arts in Port
Ludlow and the summer’s Music on the Green are made possible through grants,
donations and sponsorship dollars. The Port Ludlow Arts Council invites
community support. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, all donations are tax
deductible. A receipt will be mailed for your tax records.

Opening night concertgoers on

will enjoy a
champagne reception at 7:00 p.m., followed at 8:00 p.m. by “Swingin’
The Benny Goodman Songbook,” an upbeat, toe-tapping show featuring
jazz singer Terry Blaine’s exuberant vocals, the elegant stride mastery of
pianist Mark Shane, and the exciting, hot swing playing of acclaimed
clarinetist Allan Vaché.
This show celebrates the magic of classic jazz, and especially how Benny
Goodman’s clarinet and vocalists helped shape and define the 1930’s Swing
Era. Goodman’s classic recordings of popular standards and dance music, so
powerful and exciting then, still captivate us today.

Sunday, November 18th, Foothills Brass Quintet (FBO) |
A full-time
professional ensemble since 1981, Foothills Brass Quintet (FBQ)
brings passion and sparkle to each of its performances. With the motto,
“Serious Fun!” this group has been creating joy for audiences of all ages
with a delightfully eclectic repertoire—served up with a good measure of
humor. Performing across Canada, in the U.S. and overseas, its “Bourbon
Street to Broadway” program is an exciting exploration of the beginnings
of jazz—from ragtime to Dixie, show tunes to swing.
They’ll appear

Celtic Christmas
with Men of Worth,
Sunday, December 16, 3:00 p.m.,
will include Irish
and Scottish Christmas songs as well as more commonly known traditional
ones. This special holiday show will feature the folk-music duo of James
Keigher and Donnie MacDonald, who combine their humor with exciting tunes
and soulful, heartfelt ballads. They are joined by Celtic harpist Maureen
Brennan, Kevin Carr on Uilleann pipes and fiddle and two champion Irish
Step Dancers.

The Jaybirds
have been touring across North America and Europe for over six years. With
three critically acclaimed albums and a Canadian Juno nomination, this
group is established as a top-flight band in bluegrass music. Reischman, a
mandolin master, and his band are known for powerful original songs and
instrumentals, soaring vocals and refreshing interpretations of songs from
the old-time repertoire presented with their own bluegrass twist. They’ll

Tiller’s Folly
returns to Port Ludlow. Captivating audiences since 1997, this
threesome performs high-energy acoustic roots music with Pacific Northwest
flair. Combining the amazing talents of Bruce Coughlan,
vocalist/songwriter; Laurence Knight, bassist/producer/vocalist; and
award-winning multi-instrumentalist Nolan Murray, they have won a legion
of loyal fans across North America and the United Kingdom. Master
storytellers of legend and lore, their music blends folk, rock and
bluegrass.

Start with a
fiddle, a guitar, and a standup bass—add a cardboard box with a suitcase
bass drum and tin can cymbals—played by an ex-rock and zydeco drummer—then
add in an expressive alto voice, seamless four-part harmonies, and a
splash of banjo and ukulele—and you have Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem.
With a repertoire that spans 200 years of American music, these four
people share an irresistible chemistry on stage. This unusually
gleeful string band celebration will be here Thursday, March 6 at
7:30 p.m.

On Friday,
April 18 at 8:00 p.m., the season concludes with the Euphorics—a
joyful, energetic, powerful and seasoned award-winning a cappella quartet
that has performed internationally since 1983. Each member is a powerful
lead singer; together, they create a rich and soulful blend in a
repertoire of top-notch originals and innovative arrangements in a wide
variety of styles including gospel, doo-wop, classical, and rock. Their
passion for music comes through in performances with plenty of humor and
audience interaction.

As with all performing arts organizations, ticket sales
only cover about 60 percent of concert expenses. It is only through the

individual donors that we can book, lodge and provide hospitality to outstanding
professional talent. Since it is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization,
