PORT LUDLOW VILLAGE COUNCIL
Workshop Meeting Minutes
March 18,2008
The meeting was convened at 3 p.m. at the Bay Club. Present were Don Clark, Tom McCay, Bill Browne, Jack Mckay; Lynn Gauche; Dean Mosier; Adele Govert, Dan Meade; and Frank Siler (Aabsent: Gene Carmody, Larry Nobles, and Vaughn Bradshaw).
There were 2 guests in attendance.
Items discussed included:
Port Ludlow Artists League: Judy Thomas gave a presentation on assistance that the Art Walk Committee needs to upgrade the Walk’s presence in the Port Ludlow community. For two weeks before and during the event they would like to hang 2’ by 4’ banners promoting the event on the Paradise Bay road light poles below the Village Store. The council supported the Committee’s interests and suggested that the League solicit added support through PLA and the highway department.
PLVC Purpose: The Council reviewed the purpose of the PLVC (see PLVC brochure and/or the amended Articles of Incorporation) and discussed the limitations and opportunities for this year’s endeavors. A committee volunteered to develop guidelines in regard to the Councils financial capabilities in providing financial support for proposals brought to the board. Dan Meade (Chair), Dean Mosier, Jack McKay and Tom McCay will present an initial report at April’s General Meeting.
One Port Ludlow: In response to Bill Browne’s inquiry of continuing a social meeting of the LMC, SBCA and PLVC boards that was introduced last year, the board supported having a 2008 get together during the week of June 9-13 with initial focus on the 11th. Bill Browne and Adele Govert volunteered to organize the event.
CDC: Dave Armitage reported on the Iron Mountain Quarry hearings and the need for the Council’s preparation for extended debate in regard to opening a quarry operation on Pope and Talbot lands adjacent to PL and possibly overlapping the Timberton Trail. He recommends that the Trail’s Committee develop a map with GPS coordinates showing where the overlapping would occur. Lynn Gauche will be contacting Larry Scott asking the committee to develop this map.
Port Ludlow Digital Village Efforts: Dean Mosier and Dave Pike reported on their meetings with 13 PL organizations who expressed interest in the efforts. They will be meeting with other organizations within the next few weeks. They will also be gathering and organizing other information to give a more complete understanding regarding the costs and benefits of their proposal for a PL Digital Village.
Meeting ended 4:45 p.m.
There were no motions made and no votes taken.
Respectfully,
Bill Browne
PLVC Secretary (03/18/08)
