PORT LUDLOW VILLAGE COUNCIL
Workshop Meeting Minutes
April 15, 2008
The meeting was convened at 3 p.m. at the Bay Club. Present were Larry Nobles, Don Clark, Tom McCay, Gene Carmody, Bill Browne, Jack Mckay; Dean Mosier; Adele Govert, John Cragoe (Dan Meade substitute); and Frank Siler (Absent: Lynn Gauché, and Vaughn Bradshaw).
There were 2 guests in attendance.
Items discussed included:
Nobles’ announcements: 1) Hearings on Ludlow Cove II (Log Dump) will be held on May 22. The CDC is generally satisfied with the plans. 2) The Resort area Trial has been reset for July 22. 3) Owners filed requests for a change in the county Comprehensive Plan to change the 5 acre parcel West of the PL Church to commercial.
Iron Mountain Quarry: the request for a mining permit turned down by Jeff County was overturned and reversed by the Appeals Examiner. The county may or may not appeal. Iron Mountain has also filed for a mineral lands overlay changing the use to include mining.
Village Center: Questions arose concerning the status of the PL bus shelter installation on Paradise Bay Rd. Adele Govert will contact the County for an update. Jack McKay indicated that he had contacted various Post Office Administrators regarding installing a drive-by postal drop off. The Post Office should be installing one in the Village Center. The light pole fixtures (paid for by the PLVC) to hang flower baskets and appropriate banners will be installed by the county.
July 4 Celebration: The Niblicks Trail will be christened on July 4. A luncheon at Niblicks will be used to honor the volunteers who spent many hours/days establishing and grooming the new trail. Gene Carmody reported that the fire works celebration remains a go if the PLVC can obtain funds for the $5000 expense. Adele Govert volunteered to follow-up on the fund raising activity. The resort will be asked to move the normally planned Thursday music and light refreshment offering below the Harbormaster from Thursday to Friday to compliment the July 4 fireworks celebration.
2009 Port Ludlow Phonebook Edition: The Computer Club was asked for volunteers who could set up a data base using materials from the 2007 Edition and prepare for its update. Discussion followed on the merits of placing the phone book on line with the advertising complimenting the directory information.
Meeting ended 4:50 p.m.
There were no motions made and no votes taken.
Respectfully,
Bill Browne
PLVC Secretary (04/15/08)
