recycling guidelines The Port Ludlow 'drop-boxes' are open 24 hrs / 7 days. Please pay attention to the following guidelines for recycling. Misuse of the bins threatens the existence of the drop-box program. We have attempted to format these guidelines so you can look up information quickly and easily. It is not enough to simply "get the stuff down there" - you need to do it properly. It's not difficult or particularly time consuming, but, otherwise, unless your intent is to sabotage the program, it would be better if you didn't use the recycling bids at all. The menu on the left lists the items that are accepted at the drop-boxes.

about recycling program -
There are several 'drop-box' bins in the Village center parking lot, near
the entrance to the RV park. The bins in the Village are one of nine
recycling centers in Jefferson County. The Port Ludlow 'drop-boxes' are open
24/7. Information on Jefferson County's recycling program can be obtained
from the Jefferson County Environmental Health Department (385-9444) or from
Jefferson Recycling (385-7678). If you do not want to take your recyclables
to the bins yourself, Murrey's Olympic Disposal (800-422-7854) will pick
them up for a small fee.

For more information, call Public Works at 385-9160 or the MRW at 379-6911. save money - and the environment - by reducing the amount of leftover paint you discard.
If you must dispose of unusable or unwanted latex paint: dry it out and discard the can - dry out one inch or less by opening the can (keeping it away from children and pets). To dry out larger amounts mix QuikreteTM or clay-based kitty litter in the paint and stir until liquid is absorbed - when the latex paint has dried leave the lid off and throw the can in the garbage. Don't try to dry up oil-based paint and stain or paints containing lead or fungicide - take these to the MRW Facility, 282 10th St. in the Port Townsend Industrial Park, Friday and Saturday between 10am and 4:30pm. wine bottles - and many other items (such as plastic types 1-5 incl. detergent and bleach bottles, all colors of glass, and some scrap metal (plus motor oil and antifreeze)) are accepted just over the bridge at 21868 Viking Way NW in Poulsbo (or in Hansville). This is a large, staffed facility which is open Tuesday thru Saturday between 8am and 3:30pm. Contact Kitsap County for more information. Either visit their web site or call 360-779-1044.
