Port Ludlow Trails/NRC Committee Meeting
5 February 2008
Attendees: Larry Scott, Dick Ullmann, Jack Manning, Soozie Darrow, Dan Darrow, John Bonderson, Larry Nobles, and Barbara Nobles.
The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. by Chairman Larry Scott.
The agenda for the day and the minutes of the January 2008 meeting were approved.
Sub-committee Reports:
Finance: CFO Jack Manning reported that the balance carried over from the year 2007 was $7604.70. This is in reserve for future large projects. The current balance as of 1-31-08 is $7435.70.
The need for two signatures on all checks or checks above an un-named amount was discussed and tabled.
LMC has sent their annual $1000 contribution.
Dick Ullmann turned in $10 from Nature brochure sales.
Maps: No report.
Natural Resources: Dick Ullmann reported that four volunteers put chips on several areas of the Interpretive Trail and native plant garden.
Dick also presented the poster for the Noxious Weed Day. He will have an article in the March VOICE and sign-up sheets will be in the two clubs March 1.
A group of four will be monitoring the golf course bird houses as soon as the weather permits. The golf course is lending two golf carts for the occasion.
Stewards: Steward Coordinator was not present, but Soozie Darrow reported that a new steward was needed for the Kehele Park Trail. The Nobles agreed to take the job. Also, Dean Morgan has agreed to fill in on Timberton 12-21 until steward Tom Kingston can resume his duties.
Trails Status:
Interpretive Trail: Two locations for benches have been designated.
Timberton 1-12: Steward John Bonderson reported rock #10 is askew.
ABT 15-25: Steward Skip Rasmussen was alarmed at the number of ribbons on trees near the retention pond perhaps indicating removal. He also reported gravel washout between #16 and 17.
ABT ALT 6: Stewards Andrea and Francis Marik have done a superb clean-up job.
Lower Rainier: Larry Scott reported that the main natural drainage has been taken care of by Greenbelt/Trails volunteers.
Bay Club Gazebo: SBCA manager reported at their Feb. meeting that the gazebo roof will be hand washed/brushed to remove the moss.
Niblicks: A new route has been designated and flagged to make this a loop. A lot of volunteer work will be needed for this project.
Old Business: Ten collapsible barrels are now part of our inventory costing ~$300. A motion was passed to approve the expenditure that exceeded the initial estimate.
New Business: None
Goals and Priorities:
Lower Rainier – now partially done
Niblicks – ready to be worked on
