Port Ludlow Trails/NRC Committee Meeting
1 April 2008
Attendees: Larry Scott, Jack Manning, Stan Gustin, Dick Ullmann, Dale Wills and Soozie Darrow.
The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. by Chairman Larry Scott.
The agenda for the day and the minutes of the 4 March 2008 meeting were approved.
Sub-committee Reports:
Finance: CFO Jack Manning reported our 2008 operating balance as of 31 March 2008 is $1548.60 having received $1000 contributions from both LMC and SBCA. The financial report was unanimously approved.
Maps: No report
Natural Resources: Dick Ullmann reported that the Knock Out “Knoxious” Weeds event scheduled for 09 April has 15 workers signed up. The 16 sites chosen will, therefore, not all be worked on. PLA may be able to help by participating with us for the day.
Dick also reported that the entrance to the Interpretive Trail will soon require weeding and watering by volunteers. Dean Morgan has created signs for the entrance and native plant garden which will be installed 01 April 2008.
Stewards: Randy Duhon has agreed to be the steward for the ABT retention pond area.
Trails Status:
There have been no reports of problems by any of the stewards.
Timberton Loop: We were reminded to take care when hiking in the logging area.
Ludlow Cove: PLA has rerouted the part of this trail which was found to be on private property.
Lower Rainier: Larry Scott and Jack Riggen will be meeting with the Port Ludlow Drainage District soon to discuss the drainage problems on parts of the trail.
Bay Club Gazebo: The gazebo roof has been cleaned by SBCA.
Niblick’s Loop: The new part of the trail is rough cut from the maintenance road to the cart path and is partially chipped. Signage for the whole trail will be needed. An event marking the opening of the loop will be planned.
Old Business:
Now that the posts on the ABT are dry, the numbers will be refreshed/added.
No New Business or change in Priorities.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 a.m.
The next meeting will be held at the Bay Club on 6 May 2008 at 9:00 a.m.
